Summer Heat Power Yoga Class
Don't miss this opportunity to join Michel and this wonderful yoga community for one of the few public classes Michel will teach over the next few months. This class will give practitioners a platform to explore the complexity and depth of yoga - refining the basics and exploring advanced postures and topics. The class will include a solid flow, instruction towards challenging postures, philosophy on the 8 Limbs of Yoga and the Yoga Sutras, and some introduction to meditation. In a sense, it is a playground for us to explore the depth of our practice together! I know this extended time will be a challenge for some of you to attend, but it will be well worth the effort!
I am also thrilled to host this class at the Cascade People's Center - a community center in South Lake Union. It won't be the perfect studio environment with high heat and locker rooms, but sometimes the best sense of community is built in these kinds of spaces. At the very least, it will offer us a clean place to work together and support this little community center as I transition towards a permanent yoga space!

  • When: Mondays, June 15-July 27th (skip July 8th), 2009, 5:30-7:15 PM
  • Cost: $95 for the series or $20 per drop-in (Sliding scale and karma yogi opportunities available for those who need it).
  • Where: Cascade People's Center
  • Registration: Just show up on the first night... We will build this class together, so don't be shy about sharing it with friends!
Beginning Gentle Flow Yoga
This gentle yoga class is perfect for those new to yoga, those with illness or injury, or those just looking for a more gentle form of flow yoga. We will cover basic yoga postures and learn to work safely, gradually increasing strength, balance and flexibility. If you have been meaning to try yoga but feel a bit unsure about jumping into an established class, this is the perfect class for you.

Kids' Yoga

Mindful Monkeys

Come have fun with us! We will practice yoga, explore the chi (energy) in Tai Ji, and play mindfulness games. Recent brain science shows that mindfulness practices such as yoga and other meta-cognitive awareness techniques enhance brain growth, sync the right and left brain, and attune brain functioning. Through yoga, learning these techniques can be fun and joyful for children.
  • When: Monday-Friday, August 3-7, 10:00-10:50 am
  • Where: At the Be Yoga and Meditation Studio in the Bryant Neighborhood

  • Who: Mini Monkeys ages 2-5 from 3:15-4 PM (Big Monkeys ages 5-10 - Please see Camp Self-Discovery below.)

Camp Self-Discovery

This year, I am teaming up to help lead Camp Self Discovery with creator and founder Lucianne Hackbert, PhD and mom.

Camp Self-Discovery is committed to serving the community of parents who are courageously parenting with both head and heart fully engaged. When adults collaboratively embody authentic self-expression, children mimic these skills. With practice, children can taste for themselves the sweetness of self-soothing. Families, schools, and communities can be skillfully responsive to the inner life of a child. We believe these skills can help buffer children from the stress and challenges that are a natural aspect of the world.

At Camp Self-Discovery, we help children establish a view of themselves as creative and powerful. We help children to discover their potential as vibrant and expressive beings.

Visit the camp website for more information and to register.

Free Group Meditation
Join us for a group meditation this summer. Long-time practitioners and those new to meditation will enjoy the energy of sitting with a group once a week. If you are new to meditation, Michel will teach you a simple technique you can use.

It won't be the perfect studio environment with high heat and locker rooms, but sometimes the best sense of community is built in these kinds of spaces.
